if you’ll keep you mouth shut, something else’s gonna blurt it out.

And those are my Fingers!

I’ll tell you first the history.

Here, 2 weeks before I went to Australia last year, I had a dental check-up. It was then when I had 2 molars filled (aka. “Pasta”). But when I had this “Despedida” party the night before my flight, One of my other fillings broke and went off. Consequently on the following day (the morning before my flight), I sought for dentist to fill it again but can’t find anyone available because I did not have any appointment with anyone… poor us who needed prompt medical attention (with dentists) that time.

My wisdom teeth erupted already that time, they hurt me often but not really a big deal. What made me decide to see a dentist after 6 months of staying here is… my gums are bleeding.

So I went to a dentist. Charged me $240 for a comprehensive oral exam. The photo below will tell you why I MUST have this all done in the Philippines.

ngip2.jpg

The Examination says that one of the molars that was filled in wasn’t cleaned thoroughly so it began to infect inside.

Ouch! So I’m coming back to have this all done. =p I’m just a student, no money to see a dentist again foe these procedure =c

I’m going back to Manila!

Thats all!

Heehee!

Seriously, I need to have a vacation. Not because I’m sick of Nursing but because I have to do some shopping I just have to…

Okay I give up, there’s something to be done. It’s paramount to have this solved and gone… NOW.

I am keeping it to myself for the moment. I know this blog is where I pour in some conscious and subconscious thoughts but this i just so disgusting to be talking about.

My school ends on July 4. Probably I’ll have my flight on that date and stay 2 and a half weeks and back again.

so if you got an all-expense paid trip to Sydney, what would you feel?

I personally felt… Taking Pictures!

Quandary 101

 Quandary 101

Its like two strong winds directed towards each other

and when they collide, they bounce back to their origin.

when two desires of equal importance jarred, nothing left.

to reconcile these polar endeavors is a task that only a man of wealth could do

when these positive entities collide, it must obtain a positive result

why are these strong winds both of positive cause repel when they collide in my head?

when those are desires to cultivate knowledge and maintain sanity…

both poles of good intention collide, they leave and never brought anything good.

alas! I know what to do.

beer10.jpg

if i will take them one by one… they won’t collide. they won’t leave me and I will be able to hold them still

but what if to accommodate the other would take five hundred years?

would it be fair for the other wind to wait? would it be fair to me?

to juggle both forces takes an enormous power, talent and timing.

yes! power, talent and timing… thats what I have to possess.

power to accommodate each force one after the other in a very short span of time

talent to artistically accommodate both forces

and timing to juggle it beautifully and gracefully…

power, talent and timing.

I met Rob last week, been to steakhouse, PEEL, Bimbo’s (Love that lil’ creatures)…

we went talking about what I took before in Manila. I told him I was a Philo Major.

Then he told me that I should be keeping a blog (cos I’m a philosopher???)

Everybody can be a philosopher =p we are just afraid, afraid to be different.

“they laugh because i’m different, I laugh because they’re all the same!” -anonymous

“Philosophy is not a study for a job, it is a study for life” -Kadz Velasquez

“When the caveman went back to the cave, he was killed” -on Plato’s Allegory of the cave

…….. So with what Rob told me, I decided to rewrite my academic writing back when Prof. Malbarosa asked us to write a reflection paper about anything (????????????????!!).

so Rob.. read =p

AN EXISTENTIAL REFLECTION

Existentialism is a movement that stresses individual freedom. My own reflected summary from my philosophical readings includes Hegelian Existentialism which primarily discusses the significance of death to human existence. Also, I considered reflecting on Sartre’s existential accounts from some of his works like the infamous Being and Nothingness by understanding some citations from it that evidently stress human existential freedom and condition through being the consciousness of your own Being. More of what existentialism is will be discussed like its view of human nature, the Others and absolute individuality and freedom. I would like to inform you that all that are reflected here are based on my personal understanding from all that I have read.

As what I have read and thought, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel discussed the significance of death to our existence in this world. Death in this particular discourse is not only referring to the literal physical death but it also appeals to emotional and social death and most importantly, the death of existence of oneself. He mentioned that life is tantamount to death it’s just that death is another higher form of life. He also added that consciousness of death is strength because if you are conscious of death, which is the time, when you realize the consciousness of being alive or living in addition of your realization of the importance of living which is the inner strength that he is talking about. It becomes strength for the one that died realizes the love of life thus, lifting his life to a higher form of existence.

The Hegelian concept of existentialism in relation to death in my own realization is indeed psychological in nature. This means that being in consciousness of death makes you think back of what being in the consciousness of living is. My point here is that it is man’s nature to think of previous experiences. In this particular analysis, man being in the state of death makes him curious of how it feels to be conscious of living or life. I said psychological because the drive or the nature of man to think of the reciprocal consequences of its state is natural for him; it is a part of his existence.
In addition to this Hegelian concept, let me add that this Death Concept was adopted by some of his successors. Martin Heidegger did mention about man living for the sake of death. It implies that death is a fulfillment in a man’s existence. This might not be as what Hegel is trying to explain but there is a main point here that must be considered. There is something in death that is essential for existence thus, Death is significant to Existence.

I admit that I personally don’t understand the whole meaning of what is being said and explained by Hegel and Heidegger but in my understanding, a question raised in my consciousness. I am confused whether the two of them somehow contradicted their own ideas because they are both stating an essential something for the existence of man to be meaningful. I do believe that saying that we exist for the sake of dying which what Heidegger stressed is contradictory on what existentialism is because existentialism is about you existing to have an essence. How would you exist in an existentialist concept if you would consider living for the sake of death? It points out that dying is the essence of living which makes me think that Heidegger and some part of Hegel stopped being an existentialist. Again, this observation is based on what I understand and reflected on and from my readings.

Jean-Paul Sartre gave importance to individuality and Freedom. Individualism for Sartre is being alone in the world where it is and it will be only you who could understand yourself. Individual who is caged in your mind wherein all you could only see are just the Other’s outside being which you tend to view objectively according to personal experiences. Freedom was discussed as the free will to make a choice and to choose from choices. Not to make a choice or the refusal to use choices is called the Bad Faith He transmuted the ill or irresponsible use of freedom into what he calls the Bad Faith which is the failure to make a choice.

Existential Individualism or absolute individualism is focused on a principle which is one is trapped in his mind and body where all he could only rely on probably because he doesn’t have any other choices are his senses. It’s you total consciousness who really lives for you to exist. That is, the consciousness that is trapped in your body and even mind. It is where your total consciousness deals with the objective outside world subjectively.

Another is the Existential concept of Freedom. According to Sartre, is the freedom to choose among choices and to makes choices and choose among them. Freedom is needed to define oneself since it has been agreed that Existence came first and it came first for the purpose of it to be defined by the consciousness inside by using Freedom responsibly and not engaging or resorting into the so-called Bad Faith.

Based on my abovementioned reflected concept of Sartre, I want to admit that I fell in love this concept because I find it practical and highly ethical. On what grounds? I remember Sartre mentioned that “No one is innocent in an accident”. In relation to the citation, I believe that the concept of freedom and bad faith is universally true. Why? Because it is you who holds your own mind and body, you are responsible of it. In addition to that is the freedom to make choices. No one could hinder us to make choices and choose among them. We are just afraid of the consequences that may arise and don’t want to be responsible of them that’s why we don’t choose or we fail to choose. If an accident occurs, a car accident to be exact; it is impossible to say that you are totally immune from responsibility because for one you did choose to cross the street and failed to take extra care of yourself. Same also for the driver and to those who are involved. No one is immune to responsibility for oneself for we existed with it albeit instinctual. I find the concept recommendable for our present society primarily because of the fact that our society lacks self and social responsibility.

The Slogan “Existence precedes Essence” is the core of Existential human nature. It indicates that there are no essences or predetermined nature that causes and controls us on what we ought to do or to believe and other causal matters. Next is that we are totally independent from the predetermination or determination of other people outside. The view of human nature is created by the concept of oneself to itself by making choices and choosing among them. Also, Human Values are developed through those choices.

I therefore say that an existential being is a being contoured by oneself through his or her choices. It’s like a self creation by shaping oneself into a certain unique being through unique choices under unique circumstances and experiences. Self identification is also in the process of self creation. The main mistake here is when we associate ourselves outside ourselves.

Discrimination 101… please

This is so Classic!

Vintage to be exact!

I found this thread while digging on http://www.philippines.com.au ’s Forum section

Why can’t all kinds/types of people or people with different preferences come along?

here’s my say (what I replied):

“a good point on the survival of the species.

let me share my viewpoint on this.

I deem that your indication on ga-ys were really offensive (that is why studies conducted that gays tend to be defensive and such act of being “proud” is a process of coping/coping mechanism with the situation wherein people around them call them “irrelevant”, “nonsensical”, “scum”, etc).

if its for the purpose of eradicating hom-osexual in the surface of Australia, and with your suggestion that nature made them a travesty of nature itself,-

I then reckon that YOUR nature is not “the nature” because “the nature” cannot go against itself. It will defeat its own fundamental meaning if it will go contrary on its essence. Therefore on the process of going against itself,-

I think that base on your stand, it is then valid for us to say that no one ever realised, depicted and decided what officially is this “nomality” the world possesses.

reflecting on this, labeling hom-os a travesty of nature would be dismissed because homos themselves are products of nature. (biological product, not artificial).

On the other hand, hom-os expressing themselves too much by being too loud is unacceptable on grounds of respect and moral values (cos some of them are just really scary that they just don’t care on what people would feel bout what they’re doing). Some ga-y people give reasons for them not to be respected.

To be fair with our Ga-y brothers and sisters (cos they’re humans too), please don’t be too harsh on them cos they should also be trying their best not to be harsh on normal people. They did not choose to be ga-y themselves as “Straight” people did not choose to be “straight” either… some of them and straight people aren’t really that sure. and some hom-ophobic doesn’t even know they’re ga-y.

Cheers “

Assessment time!

April 13th, 2008 Dee Posted in Living in Aussieland, Nursing | 2 Comments »

Assessment time!

No exams, no quizzes, no recitations… just assessments.

e.g. Case studies, research, etc

We don’t have chemistry, physics, English, literature and statistics. we only got major subjects. Mental health, Surgical nursing, Health terminologies, Contemporary Nursing… like those… I’m actually lovin it cos I suck in math.

I bought Tabbner’s Nursing book for $90AU. I was hesitant at first since it’s expensive but later on thought that it’s actually an investment since it discusses nursing as a whole on its practical aspect and specialised for Australian setting. It’s coloured and thick. Kinda heavy but really user-friendly.

Sleeping on books

It’s Assessment time since our Clinical placement month’s getting nearer. Gotta deal with dementia again anytime soooon!

isn’t it revolting?

The Purple Yin meets the Xiao Yuer

The Purple Yin meets the Xiao Yuer

in Rakion… an online fighting game.
This online game became a big hit for me for almost a year ago. I’ve played it for sometime, I think for 2 years at least.
It WAS really a nice game. your survival heavily depends on your fighting skills and abilities.
I just didn’t like it much when Mobius took over it. For me, it all became a mess.
Tanking, Cheating, Hacking, etc.

anyhooo…

I met XIAO YUER (his Mage Character name in Rakion) from Singapore 2 nights ago. Isaac is a flight steward in SIA that’s why he had a chance to visit Melbourne. He was with his fellas when I met him. We all drank their local beer (i think its “Tiger”) in his hotel room. I didn’t expect them Singaporeans be really that nice to me. The good news was, the Pilot promised (so I’m crossing fingers) me he’ll call me whenever he touches down Melbourne and hand me some… (cos this vice is way expensive here)

Aiyo! aiyo! aiyo! Small world la!
